Doctors have come up with another spectacular use for the miracle plant
Aloe Vera - it also battles gum disease!
Researchers at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center applied aloe vera
extract to the gums of 14 dental patients twice over a six month period.
They quickly improved, thanks to aloe's antibacterial and wound healing properties.
Ironically, aloe was used in dental treatments way back in the 12th century by a
Benedictine herbalist nun.
Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179), in her book Hildegarde's Medicine, advocated tooth
brushing with aloe and myrrh - both of which have antibacterial, decay-preventative
properties.
